Manchester235 is proud to be supporting SportsAid athlete…

HIGH JUMPER EMILY BORTHWICK

Gold medallist Emily Borthwick, 21, clinched both the British University Championships and the Loughborough International in 2018. Now she’s looking towards the U23 European Championships in Sweden this summer.

The university student from Wigan fell in love with athletics at a young age when she saw children running round a track. Now she trains regularly at Loughborough and Birmingham and says her SportsAid award from Manchester235 will help her meet the travel costs involved in accessing these world-class training facilities.

Emily names her friend and mentor, fellow Wigan athlete Jenny Meadows, as her sporting hero, for the way the British 800m runner has dealt with injuries and other challenges through her career.
